Episode 88: Bridging the Digital Divide
Host Kacee Ochalek sits down with Wendell Willis and Tina Chang with the MPS Foundation’s ConnectMKE Campaign that is looking to raise $1 million to support students’ access to digital resources during COVID-19 and beyond. Then, Kacee chats with Anthony McHenry, the CEO of Milwaukee Academy of Science, to hear how his school has adapted to virtual learning and what they are doing to bridge the digital divide. We discuss what Milwaukee Public Schools is doing to make sure all students have access to the internet and other necessary devices, how you can support, and how one school’s approach to virtual learning in K4-12 has gotten praise from others in the education sector.

Action Steps:
Wendell and Tina’s action step is to support the ConnectMKE Campaign - no gift is too small or large.
Anthony McHenry’s action steps are to reach out to neighborhood schools to help them meet extraordinary challenges during COVID, look to those around you to support their children - it takes a village, and for our community to reevaluate options to address consistently underperforming schools
